The Tigers snapped their short 2 game losing streak with a 9-3 win over the Minnesota Twins in front of 42, 312 fans at Comerica Park.   This came on the heels of an 8 game winning streak where the Tigers were building the best record in the Majors with a 21-11 record.

Max Scherzer pitched another strong game going 6 innings and picking up his 5th win on the season.  His only blemish was a 3 run homer to Brian Dozier in the third inning.   The Tigers were lead on the offensive end with 3 run homers from Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez.

Don Kelly was a defensive star in the first inning robbing the Twins off a home run with a catch at the top of the fence in left field.   It was a big day at the ball park with a kids clinic on field prior to the game with about 4000 kids listening to instruction from several Tiger players in the outfield.  They also honored former Tiger manager Jim Leyland prior to the game with a painting of his years with the Tigers and then throwing out the first pitch of the game.

After Sunday's game the Tigers will embark on a 9 game road trip against some true competition with the Baltimore, Boston and Cleveland.    Manager Brad Ausmus had pushed all the right buttons so far this year giving key players a game off here and there.    His pitching staff has done very well to this point under the watchful eye of pitching coach Jeff Jones.   Things again are getting interesting in downtown Detroit with the promise of another very exciting baseball in the Motor City.
