Despite torrential rain forcing cancellation of the first day of play between a field of thirty-six highly competitive amateur golfers at the 2025 Saginaw District Golf Tournament held this year at The Saginaw Country Club over the weekend of June 20-21-22, four talented amateur golfers secured top honors in the Open and Legends divisions of this respected competition, which was developed back in 1955 to determine the best amateur golfers in Saginaw County.
Mike Wenglikowski of Saginaw Country Club emerged as the overall champion, capturing his fifth Saginaw District title in six years with back-to-back rounds of 70–70 (140) to finish 2-under par, six shots clear of the field.
In the Legends Division, Steve Yockey (Saginaw CC) secured his fifth Ron Stelter Trophy, firing rounds of 71–73 (144) to finish +2 and top the senior leaderboard by a commanding 13 strokes.
Six-time Open Division champion Matt Pumford (The Sawmill) earned the Fred Martin Jr. Senior Medalist Trophy, finishing third overall in the Open Division with rounds of 74–73 (147) at +5, the best among players aged 50 and older.
Rising star Caleb Clark, also of The Sawmill, won his first 21 Club Trophy as the tournament’s top performer aged 21 or younger, finishing fourth overall at 148 (+6).
