Strong second and third quarter leads Nouvel CC boys basketball to 64-53 victory past Reese H.S.

The Saginaw Nouvel CC (7-5) boys basketball team scored 37 points in the second and third quarter's combined, rolling to a 64-53 victory over Reese H.S. (7-5) at Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw Township tonight.
 
Four different NCC players scored in the first 8-minutes of the game, led by senior Pete Snyder's 4-points, pacing the Panthers to an 11-8 first quarter lead over the Rockets, who were led by sophomore Isaac Johnson's 4-first quarter points. 
 
Nouvel started to pull away in the second quarter, led by junior PG Michael Ehlman and junior Jonah Wright, who came off the bench, as each scored 5-points apiece in the second, along with 6-points from junior T.J. Raedy, pushing the Panthers ahead 30-20 heading into halftime, while Reese was led by senior big man Kyle Stockmeyer, who scored 6-points in the second quarter for the Rockets.
 
Raedy; along with fellow Nouvel junior's Jacob Burr and Josh Kuligowski each hit a three-pointer for the Panthers in the third, as Kuligowski's 5-points in the quarter helped stretch the NCC lead to 48-31 through three quarters of play. 
 
Reese junior Michel Sheridan scored 5-points and Johnson added another 9-points in the fourth quarter, helping the Rockets cut into the NCC lead, however, Raedy was 4 for 6 from the free throw line down the stretch for the Panthers, scoring 7-fourth quarter points, eventually helping NCC to the 64-53 advantage. 
 
Johnson finished with a game high 18-points to lead Reese, followed by Stockmeyer, who finished with 13-points, while Sheridan and senior Luke DuRussel each added 5-points apiece respectively for the Rockets, as senior Josh Burkitt chipped in with 4-points. 
 
Raedy led the Panthers with 16-points, followed by Ehlman, who had 12-points, 2-rebounds, and 1-steal, while Snyder was just 1-point shy of a double-double, finishing with 9-points, 10-rebounds and 1-steal.
 
NCC sophomore Sam Buckingham finished with 8-points, 1-rebound, and 1-assist, as Kuligowski followed with 7-points, and Wright added another 5-points and 3-rebounds, while junior Chris Lemanek scored 4-points, 9-rebounds, and 1-steal for Nouvel. Burr also finished with 3-points. 
 
Reese will try to get back on track in a couple of days when the Rockets welcome Bad Axe H.S. for a 7:30 pm tip off at the 'Launch-Pad' inside the Reese H.S. gym on Friday night, while Nouvel host's Ogemaw Heights H.S. for a 7 pm tip, right back here at Nouvel H.S. on Friday night as well.
