Spirit need a road win to even series tomorrow afternoon

There were a couple of first round upsets throughout the OHL on opening night of the 2018 playoffs....

The Saginaw Spirit fell behind 1-game to zero after opening the 2018 Ontario Hockey League playoffs with a 5-2 loss to the Soo Greyhounds at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, ON last night, and the Spirit now need a road win tomorrow afternoon to even the series when they return to Saginaw. 
 
In other western conference action, the Kitchener Rangers (No. 2 in the western conference) opened with a 7-2 win over the Guelph Storm (No. 7 in the western conference) at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium last night. 
 
The Windsor Spitfires (No. 6 in the western conference) shocked the Sarnia Sting (No. 3 in the western conference) with a 6-2 win over the Sting at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, ON last night, before the Sting evened the Series at 1-game apiece with a 4-1 win today. 
 
The Owen Sound Attack (No. 4 in the western conference) opened with a 5-4 win over the London Knights (No. 5 in the western conference) at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound, ON last night,
 
Over in the eastern conference, the Hamilton Bulldogs (No. 1 in the eastern conference) took a 1-0 series lead over the Ottawa 67's (No. 8 in the eastern conference) with a 6-3 victory over the 67's at the First Ontario Centre in Hamilton, ON last night. 
 
The Mississauga Steelheads (No. 7 in the eastern conference) shocked the Barrie Colts (No. 2 in the eastern conference) with a 6-2 victory over the Colts at the Barrie Molson Centre in Barrie, ON last night. 
 
In another upset game, the North Bay Battalion (No. 6 in the eastern conference) beat the Kingston Frontenacs (No. 3 in the eastern conference) 5-2 at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, ON last night. 
 
The Niagara Ice Dogs (No. 4 in the eastern conference) took a 1-0 series lead over the Oshawa Generals (No. 5 in the eastern conference) with a 4-2 victory over the Generals at the Meridan Centre in Niagara, ON last night. 
 
Saginaw will be looking to even the series with a 3 pm game-2 at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, ON tomorrow afternoon, before returning to the Dow Event Center for game-3 and game-4 Monday and Wednesday back in Saginaw.
 
The Spirit will have a virtually healthy lineup with Tom Bappert and Ben Badalamenti returning to the ice, however, Brady Gilmour is still not ready to return as he continues to nurse a nagging elbow injury.
