Spirit fall behind 2 games to zero after 8-0 trouncing by the Soo Greyhounds today

the Spirit will look to regroup when the series moves to Saginaw Monday....

The Saginaw Spirit (No. 8 seed western conference) fell behind 2-games to zero in the opening round of the western conference playoffs following an 8-0 loss to the Soo Greyhounds (No. 1 seed western conference) at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, ON this afternoon. 
 
Soo forward Morgan Frost (1) gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead at 4:41 of the first period, before two Spirit penalties led to a 5 on 3 man-advantage, where Frost scored a power play goal for a 2-0 lead at 6:30 of the opening period.
 
Greyhounds' forward Jack Kopacka (2) added another power play goal at 7:28 of the first period for a 3-0 Soo lead, shortly before Boris Katchouk (1) scored a power play goal in the final min of the first period (19:35 of the first) for a 4-0 lead heading into the first intermission. 
 
Kopacka (3) scored his second of the game midway through the middle frame for a 5-0 Soo lead at 10:52 of the second period. 
 
Connor Timmons, Keeghan Howdeshell, and Barrett Hayton each scored single goals to round out the scoring for the Soo. 
 
The Spirit will try to hold serve when the series moves back to Saginaw for game-3 at 7:05 pm tomorrow night at the Dow Event Center.
