Spirit drop another OT decision 3-2 against the Windsor Spitfires tonight

The Saginaw Spirit (25-19-8-0) went into overtime for the second consecutive game, and lost again 3-2 to the Windsor Spitfires (24-24-2-2) at the Dow Event Center tonight.
 
With the game tied 2-2 and neither team having scored in over 35-minutes of play, Windsor forward Matthew MacDougall (12) completed a natural hat trick to win the game 3-2 at the 3:16 mark in overtime. 
 
The Spirit had scored first when Mason Kohn (16) scored his sixteenth goal of the season with assists from Marcus Crawford and Blade Jenkins to jump out to a 1-0 lead at 3:18 of the first period.
 
Saginaw added to its lead when D.J. Busdeker (8) scored his eighth of the season from Max Grondin and Crawford for a 2-0 lead at 7:48 of the opening period.
 
MacDougall (10) scored the first of his three goals to get Windsor on the board 2-1 at 2:57 of the second period.
 
Windsor  tied the game when MacDougall (11) scored his second of the night to tie the game 2-2 at 8:12 of the second period.
 
Spirit goal tender Evan Cormier stopped 23 of the 26 shots he saw in net for Saginaw, while his counterpart Michael DiPietro turned away 19 of the 21 shots he faced in between the pipes for Windsor.
 
The Spirit will now prepare for a valentines day matchup when the powerful Soo Greyhounds come to town Wednesday night for a 7:05 pm face off at the Dow Event Center.
