The Saginaw Old Gold’s opened with a 12-7 win over the Cleveland Blues. Jon “GAME BALL” Smith starred, going 5 for 5. Adam McCauley made 5 putouts catching.
Game Two, the Gold’s dropped a game in a rain storm to Forest City 11-8. Chris Hammis made 5 putouts in center (13 in 3 games) for the “GAME BALL. McCauley stole 3 bases.
Game 3 was a 21-13 loss to the Columbus Capitals. Down 6-0, saw Saginaw fight back to a 13-8 lead, before getting run over in last two innings. The “GAME BALL” went to Brandon Daig going 5 for 5 & playing an awesome 2ND base.
This is the first time in 3 years Ohio teams have beaten Michigan teams going 9 games to 6 this year.
Saginaw's 'LUMBERJACK Tournament' is coming up at Ojibway Island on June 10th. The game starts at 9 am. Vintage baseball's best four teams will be there: Saginaw, Bay City, Walker Tavern & the Columbus Capitals.
