Saginaw Jr Spirit travel hockey program makes history with all six teams sweeping MAHA District 5 Championships

For the first time in the history of the Saginaw Jr. Spirit travel hockey program, all six Saginaw teams have advanced in the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association state tournament, with each age group winning a respective MAHA district-5 championship over the past two weekends to advance to the state tournament. 
The 2003, '05, and '07 Spirit teams made a clean sweep, each capturing a MAHA district-5 championship on Jan. 26-28 at the Polar Palace Arena Complex in Lapeer, MI last weekend, while the 2004, '06, and '08 Jr. Spirit team's followed up with another three MAHA district-5 championship's on Feb. 2-4 at Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton, MI this past weekend. 
With a 9:30 am final on Jan. 28, the 2005 Jr. Spirit would become the first Saginaw team to capture a MAHA district-5 championship this year, with a 4-3 victory over the Flint Jr. Firebirds, while playing on 1 of the 2 NHL-sized rink's inside the Polar Palace Complex on Sunday morning. 
Just a half hour later, at 10 am, the 2003 Jr. Spirit won its MAHA district-5 championship with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Lapeer Storm travel hockey team on the second rink. 
Later that day, at 2 pm, the 2007 Jr. Spirit took home the third MAHA district-5 championship of the weekend with a 7-0 shutout victory over the Midland Northstars travel hockey team, also at the Polar Palace last Sunday afternoon.
This past weekend on, Feb. 3, the 2008 Jr. Spirit brought home its MAHA district-5 hardware with a 7-2 victory over the Port Huron Jr. Flags at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon at the Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton, MI. 
On the following morning, at 9 am, the 2004 Jr. Spirit skated to a MAHA district-5 championship with a 3-0 shutout victory over the '04 Port Huron Jr. Flags travel hockey team on Sunday morning at the Crystal Fieldhouse. 
Finally, just an hour-and-fifteen minutes later, at 10:15 am, the 2006 Jr. Spirit made it a clean sweep, earning the sixth MAHA district-5 championship for the Saginaw Jr. Spirit travel hockey program with yet another 3-0 shutout victory against another Port Huron Jr. Flags travel hockey program at the Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton, MI.
