The Saginaw Nouvel (3-3) boys basketball team improved its season record to .500 with a 56-35 victory over Freeland H.S. (2-4) inside the Nouvel gymnasium tonight.

Freeland struggled in the early going, particularly after junior big man, Jack Townsend was forced to sit after two early fouls, while Nouvel took full advantage of Townsend's absence, jumping out to a 13-0 first quarter lead.

Nouvel senior small forward Pete Snyder scored 4-points in the opening quarter and poured in another 9-points in the second quarter, to lead all scorers with 13-first half points, while junior swingman T.J. Raedy chipped in with 10-first half points, as the pair paced NCC to a 31-10 halftime lead.

Freeland head coach Kevin Bourcier made some excellent halftime adjustments, leading his team out of the halftime break to dominate the third quarter, out-scoring Nouvel by a 13-3 margin, led by Falcon junior Nick Hare, who scored 5 of his 7-points in the third quarter as Freeland managed to cut into the NCC lead (34-23) after three quarters of play.

However, what the Panther offense had lacked in the third quarter, it would make up for in the fourth, out-scoring Freeland 22-12 in the final quarter alone, led by Snyder, who dropped another 7-points, and Raedy, who scored  6-points, along with junior two-guard Jacob Burr, who scored all of his 5-points in the fourth, as the Panthers cruised to the win.

Snyder led all scorers with 20-points, followed by Raedy, who hit 4 three-pointer's (one in each quarter) for 12 of his 19-points, and Burr, who finished with 5-points.

NCC senior power forward Tate Hausbeck and junior point guard Michael Ehlman each scored 4-points apiece respectively for the Panthers, while junior Josh Kuligowski and senior Jonah Wright each added 2-points apiece respectively to round out the Nouvel scoring.

The Falcons were led by senior guard Jackson Huckeby with 9-points, followed by Hare's 7-points, and another 6-points from senior guard Tyler Shea.

Freeland junior Jayce Bourcier finished with 4-points and 3-blocks, and junior Ryan Svorinic scored 3-points, while sophomore Jack Dreyer, senior Schaefer Powell, and Townsend each chipped in with 2-points apiece respectively.

Nouvel is off until Monday when it travels to Bad Axe, MI for a 7 pm tip-off against the Bad Axe H.S (4-1) boys basketball team inside the Bad Axe gymnasium, while Freeland will prepare to host Shepherd H.S. (2-3) for a 7 pm tip-off on Friday night at the Freeland gymnasium.
