The Detroit Pistons playing their first game at the Palace after the NBA All-Star break ran into a buzz saw in the name of Anthony Davis.   The New Orleans Pelicans trumped the Pistons 111-106 behind Anthony Davis record setting 59 points.   At one point it looked like he would go over the 60 point mark but hit a dry spell in the second half.    However he heated up again and made a run for 60 points.   He finished the night with 20 rebounds to go along his 59 points.

Detroit now in the middle of a five game losing streak to drop their record to 27-29.    For a while it seemed that the Pistons were on track to clinch a spot to make the NBA playoffs.   Now after a couple of trades that brought in a young and strong Tobias Harris they seemed to be set to keep above the .500 mark.    The second trade is now in question because one of the players has not been able to pass a physical.

Reggie Jackson again paced the Pistons with 34 points and Andre Drummond lead them with 14 rebounds.   During the contest it was a pleasure to watch two of the games top players going after each other.   Drummond and Davis both were drafted in the 2012 draft and would be banging against each other all night long.   Davis would get the best of Drummond tonight by stepping back and firing 3 pointers most of the evening.

The Pistons now travel to Cleveland to face the best team in the Eastern Conference tonight.    Detroit is fighting over a couple of minor injuries to a couple of players before they can be running again at full strength.   They have a good shot at making the playoffs for the first time in several years.
