Major Chords for Minors is proud to offer a new opportunity for paid lessons to potential students and families who would like to contribute to the mission of Major Chords, while still gaining the benefits of quality and affordable music education.

This paid tier will help Major Chords introduce prospective ideas, such as workshops, lessons outside the studio, and expand offerings in terms of available instruments, as well as possibly bringing in more educators and classes.

It is important to note that the free lessons Major Chords for Minors has offered in its 15-year history will NOT be going away. Instead, the paid lessons give more opportunity to further support the mission of Major Chords to remove ALL barriers to music education.

The focus of offering paid lessons hinges on the idea that we want everyone to feel welcome to come in to Major Chords and that this is not only for those who cannot afford to pay. If you would like quality music education and want to provide compensation to the organization, this is a way for you to do that.

However, these paid lessons would still be affordable to those who do want to enroll. For those interested in supporting Major Chords by taking lessons through the paid tier, the cost will be $20 for a half hour lesson – well below the national average of typical music lessons.

In addition, this opens the door for individuals outside the 3rd-12th grade children to take lessons if they like, including adults. Those who are over the age of 18 can also take lessons, however, these adult classes will fall under the paid tier.

“This is a huge chapter turn,” said Executive Director Amy Petty. “We are in our 15th year and there’s something very audacious about remaining in the community as long as we have. We can and should share what we do with more people and by offering this paid tier, we are opening the door to bringing in more of the community to what Major Chords can provide in music education, community and mentorship.”

Major Chords also recently introduced its Give. Groove. Repeat sustainable donor platform, in which potential donors can submit donations of a set amount per month to help the nonprofit grow and further help the development of aspiring musicians.
