The Great Lakes Loons split two games with the South Bend Cubs on the weekend.  The Cubs are the new affiliate for the South Bend team after having been with the Diamondbacks for a decade.    The Loons lost on Saturday night to the Cubs 10-4 after falling behind 9-0 after three innings.   Loons starter Trevor Oaks was roughed up for 9 runs and saw his record drop to 2-4 on the season.    The Loons had a good crowd on "SuperHero's Night" of 3,413 fans.

The Loons bounced back on Sunday afternoon against the Cubs with a 7-4 win in front of 2,032 fans on "Kid's eat Free" day at the Dow.    Great Lakes jumped out to a 3-0 in the first inning only to see the Cubs come back and score 3 runs in the third to tie the game.   The Loons then would tack on 4 more runs to build lead to 7-3.   Several Loons relievers would pitch on this warm afternoon to give them a victory.   Kyle Hooper would get the win by pitching two scoreless innings.

Now the Loons travel to Dayton for a four game series against the 2nd place Dragons beginning Monday night.   The Dragons lead the Midwest League in attendance for the 15th straight season.   They have sold out every game at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton.   The Loons then return to the friendly confines of Dow Diamond for a four game series.    Great Lakes currently sits in 7th place in the Eastern Division with a (16-18) record.
