Loons win 6-2 at a Sell Out Game

The Loons win 3 game series against the 1st Place West Michigan Whitecaps.  The Loons beat the Whitecaps 6-2 to win School Day Game at the Dow Diamond.   In the 2nd School Day Game of the year which had a sell out crowd of 5,521 fans in attendance.

Great Lakes defeated the Whitecaps 17-1 in the first game and the Whitecaps came back to win game #2 4-2 to set up the rubber match game on Wednesday.  The Loons improved their 1st half record to 18-20 and now wait for the Bowling Green Hot Rods for a four game series. 

Luis DePaula pitched 5 strong innings for the Loons with 6 strikeouts.   The Loons pounded out 10 hits today with Webster Rivas, Alex Santana and Dillon Moyer each stroking out 2 hits.   The League leading Loons added 4 more stolen bases to their season total.  

The Loons had their 2nd School Kids Day at the Dow Diamond which drew over 4,500 students from 60 area schools.  This promotion is one of the most popular in  Minor League Baseball which always give the team a sell out.   The Loons also offer a 5 dollar box lunch to the students which over half of them take advantage of.   A good series for the Loons.
