The Great Lakes Loons evened their season record to 26-26 with a 4-2 win over the Peoria Chiefs on Wednesday evening at Dow Diamond.   One of the highlights of the night was having former Detroit Tiger Robert Fick manage the team.   Fick the last Tiger to hit a home run in Tiger Stadium history will serve as manager for just two games.   The Los Angeles Dodgers roving instructor was going to be in town most of the week.   The Dodgers decided to have him manage for these two games.

The Loons jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with just one hit and an error from the Chiefs.   Peoria (26-27) then would tie it back up at 2-2 with 3 hits in the top of the third inning until the Loons would go ahead in the 7th inning.   They also scored an insurance run in the 8th inning for the 4-2 victory in 2,429 fans and 259 dogs.   The annual "Bark in the Park" let Loons fans bring their favorite pets along to Dow Diamond.

Great Lakes starting pitcher Brandon Martinez went 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 3 walks.   Three Loons relievers combined to shut down the Chiefs for the final four innings to preserve the victory.   Michael Ahmed lead the Loons with 2 hits and Josmar Cordero delivered two RBI's on 2 sacrifice flies.  The Loons will face the Chiefs in two more games before the Burlington Bees come to town for a 3 game series over the weekend.
