The Great Lakes Loons come back to defeat the Quad City River Bandits 8-6 after falling behind in the first inning 5-0.   In a hard fought victory on a very hot Sunday at the Dow Diamond the Loons kept clawing back to win the game over the River Bandits.   Hitting and 1st Base Coach Razor Shines took over the managerial duties today and coached the team to victory.   Juan Rodriquez picked up the victory in relief duties this afternoon.  The Loons only managed 5 hits but pulled out the victory to move closer to the .500 mark at 45-48.

The heat was on at Dow Diamond today with tempereture reaching 90 degrees.   3,603 fans were on hand for the 3 hour and 17 minute game.   Early on the pitching for both teams left alot be desired.  Gustavo Gomez got rocked early and didn't even finish the 2nd inning.   It wasn't much better for River Bandit Willy Paulino who lasted four innings.  The River Bandits are the Class A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Darnell Sweeney lead the Loons with two hits today in a sloppy long drawn out game.   However this is two wins in a row for the Loons to give them the series going into Monday nights final game with the River Bandits.   The River Bandits last appeared at the Dow Diamond in 2012 and play in the Western Division of the Midwest League.   Following tomorrow's game the Loons will be gone until July 25 a 9 day stretch.
