Foreign Places and Familiar Faces: Portraits and Abstracts by Lester White features portrait works of some of the most recognized faces in African American history, as well as works in abstract forms. This exhibition is on display now through May 11, 2022 at the Andersen Enrichment Center, 120 Ezra Rust, across from Ojibway Island in Saginaw. Hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. There will also be a Meet and Greet with White on April 7, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Lester A. White (L.A.W.), award winning artist and local prodigy of Saginaw Michigan, was recommended by his sixth-grade teacher to attend the Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy receiving a certificate to study visual art while dual enrolled at Saginaw High School. White also studied art education at Delta College, Michigan. His education inspired Lester to become a professional artist specializing in portraits, landscapes, oil, and mural paintings as well as airbrushing, graphic design and other original pieces.

Lester credits his gifts to God, mentors, and a history of talented artists in his family for his growing success. When White isn’t creating, he spends quality time with his daughter, Alexa and son, Alleyn and currently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Art @ the Andersen is made possible with the support of the C.K Eddy Family Memorial, the Jury Foundation, and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. This project has been established by the Saginaw Arts & Enrichment Commission to give artists in the Great Lakes Bay Region an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
