Since its inception over 27 years ago, the Field Neurosciences Institute (FNI) has embraced the goal of helping others by providing the highest quality programs of clinical care, education, and research for those struggling with a disorder of the brain or spinal cord.   Although many people throughout our region are somewhat familiar with FNI programs, few people are familiar with the complete picture of the many special programs that are offered to help neurological patients and their families.

Each year the annual benefit concert & dinner for FNI is undoubtedly one of the premier social events of the Fall Season, bringing together broad segments of our community to enjoy gourmet cuisine and top-flight musical entertainment, while helping support one of the nation’s most cutting-edge medical institutes.

This year the Field of Hope Benefit will be happening on Friday, September 29th at The Temple Theatre, beginning with a bountiful top-notch buffet at 5:30 PM and followed by a stellar musical performance featuring world renowned Country Superstar Ronnie Milsap at 7:30 pm at The Temple Theatre, 304 N. Washington in Downtown Saginaw.

An astounding country music singer and pianist, Ronnie Milsap was one of country music’s most popular and influential performers of the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Robbinsville, North Carolina, he has been blind since birth and spent his early childhood in an impoverished farming community. But with financial support from his grandparents, he was able to attend the Morehead State School for the Blind in Raleigh, where he was taught classical music and learned to play the piano, violin and guitar.

Milsap attended Young-Harris Junior College, and upon graduation he was offered a scholarship at Emory University. He chose instead to pursue a professional career in music and has been one of the most successful and versatile country ‘crossover’ singers of his time, appealing to both country and pop music markets with hit songs that incorporated pop, R&B and rock ‘n roll elements.  He has received six Grammy Awards and forty #1 Country hits, with over 35 million of his albums sold.  Milsap was chosen for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014 and has also received the Academy of Country Music Career Achievement Award.

Buffet/Show tickets purchased before are available at the Temple Theatre Box Office and start at $125.00. Depending upon their location, show-only tickets will be $40, $30 and $20.

Proceeds from Field of Hope Starring Ronnie Milsap will go toward obtaining a new Flow Probe – a life-saving surgical instrument to help FNI neurosurgeons monitor blood flow during brain surgery; and a state-of-the-art Nanodrop Spectrophotometer, which will allow FNI researchers to measure minute levels of DNA and brian molecules in their studies to disocver new treatments for stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurological disorders.

This annual gathering and celebration is indeed one of the most worthwhile community endeavors that you can become involved with that manifests profound and long-lasting results.
