CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY CHIPPEWAS BASEBALL

The CMU baseball team recently completed a very successful baseball season in 2011.  CMU Head Coach Steve Jaksa said " That they did alot of good things and played well in the conference tournament.   We will be starting work on the 2012 season right away."   The Chippewas finished with a 31-27 overall record and won the Mid-American Conference West Division title in 2011.

The Chippewas needed to win the MAC Baseball Tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament.   However they played well in the MAC Tournament finishing with a 2-2 record playing some good baseball.   They lost their opener to Western Michigan University 9-7.  They then came back and reeled off two wins against Toledo 9-8 and then beating Western Michigan again 13-12.  They lost a heartbreaker to the Miami of Ohio 5-2 to end their tournament run in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Jordan Dean (Midland Bullock Creek) made second team All-MAC conference.   Harvey Martin picked up both victories in the Tournament.   CMU was lead by some good hitting performances in the MAC tourney by Jordan Dean, Tyler Hall who hit for the cycle, Robbie Harmon and All-Tournament selection Nate Theunissen.

Assistant Coaches Jeff Opalewski and Brett Haring now will hit the pavement to find the next class of Chippewas for the 2012 season and beyond.   They will be traveling through out the Midwest watching High School seniors playing in the best amateur baseball and at Showcases where they will evaluate the talent.   Things are looking bright for the Chippewas for 2012 and beyond.
