Bay City Central's football team scored a big upset win on Friday night over the Midland Chemics 28-14.  It improved the Wolves record to 3-2 on the season.   It also was Coach Morley Fraser's 200th career win as a varsity football coach.  His career record at Bay City Central now stands at 159- 133 in his 31st year at the school.  He trails legendary coach Elmer Engel who won 162 games in a 23 career that included 5 Class A State Championships.   Bay City Central's football stadium is named after Elmer Engel.

The Wolves defeated the Midland Chemics for the first time in 10 years to get that monkey off their backs at Midland Community Stadium in front of a packed homecoming crowd.   Wolves's running back Dequez Weathers continued his fine season with 203 total yards on the night but it was his 75 touchdown run at the end of the first half that put the Wolves back into the game.

The score was knotted at 14-14 going into the locker room at halftime and the mood was that the Wolves could compete with the powerful Chemics.  The Wolves stepped up the defense in the 2nd half and would bend but didn't break in keeping the Chemics scoreless.   Sophomore quarterback Brian Elder continued his improvement by going 9 of 16 passing for 174 yards and 1 touchdown on the night.

Central now moves to the easier part of the 2016 schedule by hosting Flint Carmen-Ainsworth next Friday night at Engel Stadium.   Flint Northwestern, Saginaw Heritage and Bay City Western who all are struggling this season will follow.   In the MHSAA season 6 victories are required to make the playoffs and that is what the Wolves are gunning for with this young team.
