Goosebumps: The Science of Fear

Posted in: Instructional

In the new exhibition, Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear, visitors will learn about this universal emotion that helps humans adapt and survive. Through fun, interactive challenges, guests can experience fear in a safe environment and discover the science behind their physical and emotional responses. Visitors can test their responses to common fears on the Fear Challenge Course. The Fear of Falling challenge allows guests to experience a sudden loss of support and then watch a video recording of their reaction to the backwards drop. Visitors may feel their heart pounding as they wait to be zapped by a generator in the Fear of Electric Shock challenge. The Fear of Animals challenge dares guests to reach into a concealed terrarium that might be the home of some creepy-crawly creatures. Other exhibit highlights include the Fear Lab, which explores the structures and pathways that drive the fear response. 31-5930Midland Center for the Arts, 1801 W. St. Andrews. Runs thru May 25th.
