Mid-Michigan Americana "super group" The Lucky Nows will be appearing at the State Theater in Bay City on September 7, debuting songs from their 2018 release Rise.

Fronted by renowed singer / songwriter Jen Cass, the Lucky Nows include her husband, Eric Janestksy, and a band rounded out by faces that will be easily recognizable to this region's music fans.  With multi-instrumentalists Michael Robertson and Jon Potyrkus and harmonica ace Rosco Selley in tow, fans can expect a vocal and instrumental tour de force.

From their press release, the band is described as follows:

"The Lucky Nows play dynamic, high-energy Americana folk-rock with echoes of Isbell and Isakov and a bluesy center. Their music draws from every genre, delivering a wide range of lyric-driven originals with intricate arrangements and gorgeous harmonies. If Steve Earle had a love-child with Lucinda Williams, and that child was raised by Kris Delmhorst and Jeffrey Foucault, and frequently visited by Shovels & Rope and the ghost of Townes Van Zandt, their debut CD would sound eerily similar to The Lucky Nows' "Rise."

The album consists of eleven original tracks, penned and sung by Cass, Janetsky and Potrykus.  Tunes like "Ember" and :"Song's In Ordinary Time" will resonate with fans of poignant lyrics and heartfelt vocal deliveries.

The show will be opened with a set by the Songbirds, consisting of Kris Pride-Hlem, Jennifer Naegele and Bianca Henika.

Doors open at 6:30 PM and the show starts at 7:00.  Tickets are $15 and are available at the State Box Office, the State Theater website or at the door.

Rise is available on all the usual outlets, including Amazon Music and CD Baby.
