Saginaw Valley State University now moves to a tie for first place in the GLIAC North Division with a 3-0 record after big 51-41 win over Lake Erie College.  The Cardinals now have defeated the Storm 4 times in the row since the Ohio school joined the GLIAC.

In front of another large home crowd at Harvey Randell Wickes Stadium the Cardinals lead the entire game.  With perfect weather the spectators saw the two teams total 1,131 yards offense on 169 plays in the game that lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes.  Alfonso Vultaggio got the Cardinals off on the right foot scoring on a 48 yard touchdown pass early in the game from QB Jon Jennings.

Quarterback Jon Jennings had another good game by completing 12 of 16 passes for two touchdowns and 291 yards.   Jeff Janis had 5 catches and 120 yards along with a 44 yard touchdown catch.  Jennings also ran for 86 yards and 2 TD's in the high scoring contest.  The Cardinals raced out to a 35-14 halftime lead only to see the Lake Erie Storm keep fighting back to end up making it a close ballgame.

This now sets up a big GLIAC North Division game next Saturday in Big Rapids against Ferris State University at 2:00p.m.   Both teams are 3-0 in the North Division looking for the GLIAC Championship in 2013 along with qualifying for the NCAA Division II playoffs at the end of the regular season.  So far the season is going as planned for SVSU.   However the defense will have to start playing a little bit tougher in order to keep their Championship hopes alive.
