Sarnia, ON:

The Saginaw Spirit (20-13-3-0) used a 2-goal first period and a 2-goal second period, behind a 31-save performance by backup goal tender Cam Lamour to earn a decisive 4-2 road victory over the Sarnia Sting (25-12-2-0) at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, ON tonight.

Spirit defenseman Marcus Crawford (10) gave the Spirit a 1-0 lead at 4:53 of the first period, as Sarnia answered with a goal from Sean Josling (12) to tie the game at 1-goal apiece at 7:27 of the opening period, before Spirit forward Max Grondin (3) scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Mason Kohn at the 12:59 mark, sending the Spirit into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Kohn (10) then scored his tenth of the season from Hayden Davis and Crawford for a 3-1 Saginaw lead at 8:39 of the second period, before Spirit rookie sensation Blade Jenkins (14) buried his fourteenth goal of the season from D.J. Busdeker just 41-seconds later, at the 9:20 mark of the second period, for a 4-1 lead after 40-minutes of hockey.

Sarnia forward Drake Rymsha (19) added a power play goal, his nineteenth tally of the season to make it a 4-2 game and round out the scoring just 3:03 into the third period.

This was a huge confidence builder for Lamour, who turned away 31 of the 33 shots he would face between the pipes for the Spirit tonight, running his record to 4-2 in his six starts this year.

The Spirit will now return to Saginaw for back to back home games this weekend, where they will host the Erie Otters (12-20-5-1) for a 7:05 pm face off on Friday night at the Dow Event Center, before welcoming these same Sarnia Sting back for a 7:05 pm face off on Saturday evening at the Dow Event Center.
