Saginaw, MI:

Following 2-road wins (5-2 over Niagara last Thur. and 4-2 over Erie on Friday) along with a 4-3 road loss to the undefeated Oshawa Generals to complete a 3-game road trip Sunday, The Saginaw Spirit (4-3-1-0) return home to wrap up this 4-game eastern conference swing, hosting the Peterborough Petes (4-2-0-0) at the Dow Event Center in downtown Saginaw, MI at 7:05 pm tonight.

Spirit captain Damien Giroux had a great week, pacing the offense with 6-points (3-goals, 3-assists) in 3-games, starting with 3-points (1-goal, 2-assists) against the Ice Dogs, adding 1-goal and 1-assist against the Otters, before scoring once against the Generals.

Second year forward Ethan Cardwell followed Giroux with 3-points (2-goals, 1-assist) against Niagara, along with 2-assists against Erie for a 5-point road trip.

Over age forward Cole Coskey finished with 2-goals to round out the scoring against the Generals on Sunday, as rookie defenseman Mitchell Smith and veteran Nicholas Porco each chipped in with single tallies in the Niagara game, while Jake Goldowski and Danny Katic each scored against the Otters, with Goldowski also picking up an assist in that game.

Cardwell and fellow second year Spirit forward Cole Perfetti both showed up on the first NHL central scouting rankings of the 2019-20 season, with Cardwell earning a C rating, while Perfetti was given an A rating.

The Spirit will be looking to improve to 5-wins on the season with a victory against the Petes tonight, before turning the focus to a big weekend matchup against the London Knights, who will be visiting the Dow for the first time this season at 7:05 pm Saturday night.
