The Saginaw Spirit are looking forward to a little “Home Cookin” tonight at the Dow Event Center; after dropping their second consecutive road game last night in St. Catharines, Ontario. The Spirit lost to the Niagara Ice Dogs 4-2 in front of 2,872 fans at the Gatorade Garden City Complex last night. Friday’s loss came after a tough defensive battle against the high powered Erie Otter offense on Thursday evening.

The Spirit fell behind 3-0 after one period Friday night; while they made a valiant effort, scoring the next two goals to make it a 3-2 game, a late goal by Niagara defenseman, Vince Dunn sealed Saginaw’s fate.

Spirit defenseman, Justin Sefton (13) scored a power play goal at 4:10 of the second period to get the Spirit on the board, cutting the Ice Dog lead to two goals heading into the third period. Spirit veteran forward, Kristoff Kontos (20) scored his twentieth goal of the season (a shorthanded goal) at 7:36 of the third period to round out the Spirit scoring attack.

Saginaw goalie, Nikita Serebryakov stopped 31-of the-35 shots he faced in net for the Spirit Friday evening. The Spirit will look to turn the ship around tonight when they host the Soo Greyhounds at the Dow Event Center for a 7:11 pm faceoff.
