Northwood falls to powerhouse Grand Valley in close contest

GVSU defeats the Timberwolves 23-17

Northwood University played Grand Valley State University tough for 3 quarters at Hantz Stadium on Saturday before falling to the deep GVSU squad 23 -17.  The Timberwolves lead going into the fourth quarter 17-10 before the Lakers wore down the Wolves.   Grand Valley out gained the Timberwolves 441 yards to 245 yards in the muddy contest.  The first half was played under good conditions before the clouds opened up at the end of halftime.

Northwood falls to 2-6 and 1-5 (GLIAC) while Grand Valley State University remains within striking distance of the GLIAC North Division leading Saginaw Valley State University.  Grand Valley pulled away with the game in the 4th quarter by scoring 13 points to secure the victory at 23-17.  Glenn Wilson would lead the Timberwolves in rushing with 71 yards on the day.   Mark Morris would total 168 yards passing and one touchdown pass. 


The Timberwolves will now finish out the season with two of the three last games on the road.  They will face Ferris State University in the final home game on November 9th at 12:00 noon.
