The University of Michigan football team remains in a tie with Nebraska for 1st place in the Legends Division of the Big Ten Conference soon to be the Big 14 Conference.   Michigan played a solid football game on Saturday by completely dominating the Iowa Hawkeyes 42-17 at the Big House.   With a new starting quarterback in Devon Gardner and new running back Denard Robinson the Wolverines looked very good on this beautiful afternoon with the sun shining.

Michigan came into the game with a 7-3 record looking to keep pace with the Cornhuskers and a hope of still making the Big Ten Championship game.   However, Nebraska holds the tiebreaker with the win in head to head competition this year.   Over in the Leaders Division with two of the top three teams not eligible to play in the Championship it appears that Wisconsin will be their representative.  The 2012 season will come to an end on Saturday with the Wolverines traveling to Columbus to take on the undefeated 11-0 Buckeyes.

Running back Fitz Toussaint was injured early in the first quarter and now will be out for the rest of the season.    Devon Gardner making his second start at quarterback would have the second great game in a row accounting for 6 touchdowns on the day.   In front of over 113,000 plus fans Denard Robinson would dazzle the crowd with his running skills on Senior Day for the Wolverines.  Denard would end the afternoon with 98 yards rushing.

The Wolverines would rush out to a 28-10 halftime lead at the Big House and never look back.  Devon Gardner would finish with a 18 for 23 day passing for 314 yards.  The Wolverines would have over 500 yards going into the 4th quarter.  This would give Head Coach Brady Hoke plenty of time to put in some reserves to play in Michigan Stadium for one last time.

Now all eyes will turn to Columbus for the November 24 game against the undefeated Buckeyes.  Nothing would be more icing on the cake for the Wolverines to defeat the Ohio State team at the Horseshoe and take away the perfect season.   We will find out starting this Saturday at 12 noon.
