The 2013 College Football season opened under perfect conditions at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.   The Wolverines were playing in state rival the Central Michigan University Chippewas.  This would be the fourth meeting between the two schools.  CMU lost many key players from last season and the Wolverines would be returning a quarterback who has unlimited potential.

Devin Gardner who I believe has more promise than recently departed Denard Robinson.  Gardner played a strong first half in leading the Wolverines to a 35-6 going into the locker room.  He ran for a couple of touchdowns and passed for one but threw a couple of interceptions also.   Wolverine running back Fitz Toussaint who was coming back from a broken leg last season looked good in the tune up for next week's opponent Notre Dame.

CMU's starting quarterback and star running back both had minor injuries early in the game and didn't see action after the 1st quarter.   The 110,000 plus fans sitting in the high 80 degree weather enjoyed all of the action with Michigan eventually running with the game 59-9.   The Michigan defense would limit CMU to 3 field goals on the day.

Michigan would add 24 more points in the 2nd half and limiting the CMU offense to just a field goal.  Michigan now prepares for a big match-up against powerhouse Notre Dame next Saturday under the lights.   Central Michigan returns to Mount Pleasant to open their Home Schedule against New Hampshire at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
