Loons sweep series with 4-1 win over Kane County

The Great Lakes Loons swept their first series of the 2016 season with a 4-1 victory over the Kane County (IA.) Cougars (Arizona Diamondbacks) at Dow Diamond tonight. Erick Meza ripped a 2 run home run (3) in the bottom of the first inning with Luke Raley on base for an early 2-0 lead.

Omar Estevez added an rbi single in the bottom of the second and another rbi single in the bottom of the eighth to round out the Loons scoring.

Michael Boyle (7-6, 2.81 ERA) came in to relieve Mitchell White after the second inning and dominated the Cougars, allowing just two hits, while striking out 5 batters in six scoreless innings for the win.

The Loons will be back at Dow Diamond tomorrow for the first of three home games against the Clinton LumberKings. (Seattle Mariners).

    Jason Kane County actually had the lead in the first inning 1-0 going into the bottom of the first when Erick Meza hit his 2 run home run.
