The Great Lakes Loons have run into a buzz saw against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Hot Rods shut out the Loons on Thursday evening 5-0 with all of the scoring in the top of the 1st inning. Late arrivals would see 8 1/2 innings of scoreless baseball. The Hot Rods also shut out the Loons in the first game of the series.
Loons starter Trevor Oaks coming into the game with a 2-0 record and a very good ERA (0.53) couldn't get an out in the first inning as the Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays) banged out 5 hits to get 5 runs in the first inning. After that it was a pretty quiet evening at Dow Diamond. Oaks did stay in the game and pitched 6 innings giving up 4 more hits along the way.
Great Lakes dropped to 9-9 on the season for fourth place in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League. The Loons now host the 3rd place Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds) for a 3 game weekend series at the Dow. The Great Lakes Loons play a 140 game schedule with 70 home games in the summer of 2015. The weather is now starting to warm up and a good time can be had by all at the ballpark.
