The Great Lakes Loons dropped an interesting contest to the Fort Wayne Tincaps this afternoon at Dow Diamond 6-5.   On a overcast mid-week day the Loons drew a small crowd to Dow Diamond to watch the final game of a 3 game series.    The announced attendance was 776 fans but was actually closer to 120 fans scattered through out.   The Loons fell behind the Tincaps from the start 2-0 and watched them build it to a 6-2 leading into the final frame.

The Tincaps would only total 4 hits on the day would benefit from 3 balks and a couple of walks in the same inning.    Victor Gonzalez would pitch the first 4 innings and leave the game tied at 2-2.   Dennis Santana would pitch the next 3 1/3 innings and give up four runs along with the 3 balks giving him the loss.

Loons big first baseman Matt Jones hit a big home run to left field  to knot the score at 2-2.   Three Loons players would tally 2 hits on the afternoon Omar Estevez, Gage Green and Matt Jones.    The Loons would have 11 hits on the day but couldn't mount any threat until the bottom of the ninth inning.    Great Lakes would score 3 runs and have two runners on when the final out was a fly ball to second base.    The Loons now stand at 2-2 with 3 games already canceled due to the Michigan weather.     They now travel to Lake County for a 4 game series against the Captains a Cleveland Indians affiliate.
