The Great Lakes Loons went down to the South Bend Silverhawks Friday night at the Dow Diamond by the score of 4-0.   The Loons who have been playing the past week without the services of star pitcher Zac Lee who is sitting out some action because of a tired arm.    Also the promotion of closer Shaun Tolleson to High-A California League has caused some shortages in the bullpen.

The Loons also have another prospect who is starting to show some signs of potential of moving up very quickly.   Garrett Gould a 6' 4" righthanded pitched who started the season with a 4-0 record and a very low ERA so far.   Gould who is 19 years olds was a 2nd round draft choice of the Dodgers in 2009.  The Loons with a 25-15 so far into the 2011 campaign are starting to gel together.  Manager John Shoemaker has the team doing the little things right and this has lead them to a first place position in the Midwest League.

The weather has broken and the Loons had a sell out crowd at the Dow on Friday night with Fireworks right after the game.   Several promotions are upcoming and the Dodgers legends series is in full swing with several Dodger All-Stars coming into this summer for autograph sessions.
