The Great Lakes Loons opened a 6-game home stand tonight with a 2-0 loss to the Beloit Snappers at Dow Diamond.    In a quickly played game all of the scoring was done by the top of the third inning.   Beloit would get on the board in the first with a solo home run from Justin Higley and add another solo shot in the third inning from Joe Bennie.  This would be the only scoring of the game.

2,918 fans would see a total of 7 hits in the game with the Loons accounting with 4 hits.   The only real scoring opportunity for the Loons came in the bottom of the 8th inning when they loaded the bases.   However an inning ending double play would dash any hopes of scoring on the night.   The Loons are still in last place in the 2nd Half of the Midwest League season.   Their overall record now stands at 53-53 on the season.   The Loons have not jelled so far in the 2nd half of the season.   With just a little over a month to go the Loons are causing some concern for the Midwest League playoffs which start two days after the conclusion of the season.

Beloit would get a strong pitching performance from starter Brett Graves who would up his record to 10-5 on the season.    He pitched 6 scoreless inning for the Snappers tonight.   The Loons would parade out 4 pitchers who would only allow 3 hits on the evening but two of them were solo Home Runs.   The Loons will face the Snappers for two more games before playing the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for a 3 game series.
