The Great Loons battled back from a 2-1 deficit for a 5-2 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays) as they clinch the first round (best of three) eastern division Midwest League semi-final series 2-games to 1 at Bowling Green Ball Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky tonight.

For the first time since 2010 the Loons advance to the MWL eastern division championship series where they will host the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) at Dow Diamond. West Michigan beat the South Bend (Chicago Cubs) 2 games to 1 in the other semi-final series.

With his team trailing 2-1, Loons' outfielder Saige Jenco roped a two out single then scored from first on Luke Raley's RBI single. Omar Estevez followed with an RBI single to score Raley and give the Loons a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning.

Gage Green only needed a home run to hit for the natural cycle in game-1 of this series, but settled for going 4 for 4 with two singles, a double, triple, and a walk. He waited until tonight to get the home run, a 2-run no-doubter off the scoreboard that extended the Loons lead to 5-2 in the top of the eighth inning.

Leandro Crawford (3.60 ERA) earned his first win of the post season giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 3 batters through five innings of relief.

Loons starter Walker Behler (0.00 ERA) was perfect striking out 1 batter through 2 innings. Andrew Istler closed out the eighth and ninth innings allowing no runs on 2 hits.

Estevez finished 3 for 5 with an RBI to lead the Loons' offense while Jenco, Raley, and Logan Landon added 2 hits each respectively. Green -who is hitting .500 in the 2016 MWL post season- was 1 for 2 after his pinch hit 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning.

The action will now shift to Dow Diamond where the Loons will host the Whitecaps for game-1 of the MWL eastern division championship series for a 7:05 pm game-1 tomorrow.
