Logan Landon hit three straight doubles for a total of 4 RBI's as he led the Great Lakes Loons to a 7-2 victory over the South Bend Cubs (Chicago Cubs) in front of 6,479 fans at Four Winds Field in South Bend, Indiana tonight.

The Loons have now won 3 straight, including the first two of this four game series in South Bend. They've been on a mission winning 12 of their last 15 as they hold a 2.5 game advantage on the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays) for the final Midwest League playoff spot.

Jordan Sheffield and Ivan Vieitez shared the piggy-back start. Sheffield (4.50 ERA) gave up 1 run on 2-hits and 1 walk, with 1 strikeout through 1.2 innings, while Vieitez (3-4, 4.06 ERA) was perfect with 2 strikeouts through 2.1 innings as he earned the win.

Dennis Santana (2.88 ERA) gave up 1 run on 2-hits and 2-walks with 4 strikeouts through 4 innings. Tony Gonsolin (3.60 ERA) allowed just 2-hits as he closed out the ninth inning.

Landon was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and Brendon Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 runs to lead the Loons offense. Gage Green, Luke Raley, Ibandel Isabel, and Steve Berman all contributed one hit each respectively.

The Loons magic number for a playoff berth is at 3 with 9 games left in the regular season. They will finish two more games in South Bend on Sun and Mon then head to Fort Wayne for a 3 game series against the Fort Wayne Tincaps (San Diego Padres) next week before returning to Dow Diamond where they will finish the regular season hosting the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers).
