Eight years ago HealthSource Saginaw opened the doors to their newly renovated facility, which allowed them to provide 213 beds in the nursing facility and 61 beds in the psychiatric and chemical dependency unit, serving a pivotal role in our community for a majority of patients coming from an acute care hospital that require additional transitional care, usually for a 35 to 40 day period.   Located on Hospital Road in Saginaw Township, on June 18, 2018, HealthSource entered a new phase of augmenting their community service as they broke ground on a new 15-month construction and renovation project to expand their services.

“For 88 years, HealthSource Saginaw has been a destination of choice for people needing long-term care, medical rehabilitation, and behavioral health care.”  said the President and CEO, Lisa Lapham.  “As part of our commitment to the community, we are expanding and renovating to provide an aquatic therapy pool in our Medical Rehabilitation Center, the addition of a Geriatric Psychiatric unit in the Behavioral Medicine Center, expansion of the Adult Behavioral Medicine Center, and renovation of three of our four Long-Term Care neighborhoods to all private rooms.”

HealthSource Saginaw was first established as a Long-Term Care Center in 1930, a Medical Rehabilitation Center in 1946, and the Behavioral Medicine Center in 1971.  In 1994 Saginaw Community Hospital was renamed HealthSource Saginaw, and from 2004-2010, the beautiful facility we enjoy today was built.  Expansions of the Behavioral Medicine Center took place in 2013 and 2016.  The current expansion and renovation project will add more than 50 new jobs to HealthSource, one of the largest employers in the community.

Local company J.R. Heineman and Sons will provide general contracting services to HealthSource Saginaw during the project.
