The Great Lakes Loons keep their hold on 2nd Place in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League by knocking off the Bowling Green Hot Rods.  In a error filled contest that saw the Hot Rods commit 7 errors and lead to the Loons scoring on a throwing error.   Almost 2,500 fans saw the Loons improve to 24-22 and continue to chase league leading Lansing Lugnuts.   The Lugnuts have one of the best records in Minor League Baseball in 2012.

Loons third baseman Jesse Bosnik reached 2nd base on a single and throwing error to start the bottom of the 9th.  The next batter pinch hitter Pedro Guerrero then bunted and the Hot Rod pitcher throwing to third base fired the throw out into left field allowing Bosnik to score the game winning run.  The Loons are now tied for 2nd place with two other teams with the top two teams qualifying for the Midwest League playoffs at the end of the regular season.

Great Lakes starter Jarret Martin struggled at times in this game by allowing 8 hits in 4 plus innings.  He did record two more strikeouts to add to his season total of 54.  The Loons have made several roster moves over the last two weeks due to injuries which hasn't given Manager John Shoemaker many choices.  However the team has managed to keep above the .500 mark and in the hunt for a playoff spot.
