The Great Lakes Loons move closer to a Midwest League playoff berth with a 4-1 win over the Dayton Dragons tonight.   The Dragons are fighting for the last spot in the Midwest League playoffs along with the Loons.  So any combination of 2 Loons victories and Dragons losses will clinch a berth in the playoffs since 2010.  That season the Loons reached the Championship Series and lost in 5 games.

Tonight's stars for the Loons included James Baldwin with a couple of hits including a triple and home run.   Geoff Brown got his 12th victory for the Loons tonight.   17 year old starter Julio Urias worked 4 innings and looked sharp.  The Los Angeles Dodgers the parent club are carefully allowing innings pitched by Urias this season.   It would appear that some good things lie in the future for this pitcher.

The Loons improved to 38-26 in the second half of play and drew over 4,100 fans to tonight's game.  It was the last successful promotion of the year for the Loons with a Tiger Stadium replica give away.   The Loons now have drawn over 220,000 fans in the 2013 season and are shooting to go over 230,000 fans with two games remaining at home.   The Loons will finish out the season with a 3 game series in Fort Wayne over the Labor Day weekend.
