The Great Lakes Loons prepare to open their 8th season of play in the Class A Midwest League in Midland at the Dow Diamond.  The Loons will have a new manager this season in Bill Haselman who will be the 5th manager in Loons history.  Haselman is a former MLB player himself and should bring some good leadership to the team.

The Loons roster will be heavy with new faces this year for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization team.  Missing this season will be the usual high round draft pick from the previous draft.  The Dodgers consistently have put a 1st or 2nd round draft choice in Midland for the beginning of the season.  But not this year with the highest being a 6th round choice in Jacob Rhame a right handed pitcher.

The Loons will open the season on the road at Fort Wayne for a 4 game series before returning to the Dow Diamond to open the season on Tuesday April 8th against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.  There will be the Opening Day parade through downtown Midland before the 1st pitch at the Dow at 6:05p.m.

Mid-Michigan and the Great Lakes Bay region are getting fired up for some time in the warmer spring time air.  The Loons will have several promotions through out the season and tickets are still very reasonable if purchased in advance at 6.50 for lawn seats and 9.50 for box seats.  Tickets on game day are 1.00 more for each.  So play some time in advance at the Dow Diamond in 2014.  A good time will be had by all.  See the stars of tomorrow today at the Dow.
