Great Lakes Loons lose a lopsided contest to Lake County

Captains grab early lead to defeat the Loons 10-6

The Great Lakes Loons drop the 3 game series to the Lake County Captains with a 10-6 loss Sunday afternoon at Dow Diamond.    The Captains took 2 out of 3 games from the Loons in Midwest League action.   The Loons now stand at 50-49 on the season.   Great Lakes jumped out to a quick 2 run lead only to see the Captains come storming back.   

Lake County would score 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 6 more in the top of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.   Four Captains would stroke 2 hits each and shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang would have 3 hits in the 13 hit attack.   Anderson Polanco would improve his record to 6-6 pitching 5 innings on this hot afternoon at Dow Diamond. 

The Loons would have 11 hits on the day and scored some runs late in the game to make the score closer than it seemed.   Great Lakes would score a run in the 7th and 8th innings.   Kyle Garlick who would have 4 hits on the day would hit a 2 run Home Run in the bottom of the 9th inning to make the final score 10-6.   Matt Shelton took the loss for the Loons and saw his record drop to 1-3 before 3, 438 fans in the stadium today.   Shelton would only last 3 innings giving up 7 hits and 8 earned runs. 

Following an off day tomorrow the Loons open a 3 game series with the South Bend Cubs at the Dow Diamond Tuesday through Thursday before hitting the road again.
