The 2014 season for the Great Lakes Loons is officially over with a 3-1 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps.   Manager Bill Hassleman had high hopes for the 8th year team that is the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate in the Midwest League.

The Loons struggled through out the 2014 season going in streaks where they would win several games in a row and then drop several in a row.  They did this through out the season.   At the end of the 2nd half of the season they had a playoff spot for the taking if they would have won a few games along the way.   But they fell into a top spin.   They did however draw well at the box office.   It will be interesting to see if they continue their affiliation with the Dodgers because the MILB agreement expires on September 15th.

Great Lakes finished the second half with a 32-37 record and 66 -73 overall for 2014.  The season also saw a higher than normal turnover in players with injuries and call-ups.   Right after the All-Star break two players moved up and the Loons didn't have the quality of players that they have had in years past.

It will be interesting to see the direction of the team next season on its affiliation and if the Loons bring back the very popular promotions with former star players coming to Dow Diamond.   Enjoy some of the pictures that I'm including below from the entire season.
