On a beautiful evening at the Dow Diamond the Loons ended their 6 game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Clinton Lumberkings (Seattle Mariners).   The Loons who had trouble scoring runs recently had the bats come alive a bit tonight by stroking seven hits.   They were more aggressive on the bases and took advantage of some wild pitches by the Lumberkings.

Jesmuel Valentin led the Loons with 2 hits and 2 rbi's tonight.   Great Lakes starting pitcher Jonathan Martinez has a good outing keeping the Loons in the game through 6 innings with the score tied at 2-2.  The Loons would tack on 2 runs in the seventh and 1 more run in the 8 inning to seal the victory.   The Kane County Cougars now come to town for a 3 game series.

The almost sellout crowd of 5,141 fans had a pleasant evening at the Midwest League contest.  The Loons now have their work cut out for them over the next six weeks.  There are three teams that they need to overtake in order to qualify for the Midwest League playoffs that start right after Labor Day.   Michael Johnson (2-2) would pick up the victory working two shut out innings in relief.  It was Latino Night at the ballpark with a good representation of Hispanic fans  in attendance.
