Before a good size crowd tonight at the Dow saw the Great Lakes Loons defeat their in state rival the Lansing Lugnuts 2-1.   In the well played and quick game saw Zac Bird improve his record to 4-8 on the season.   All three runs were scored early in the game and then saw good relief pitching from both squads for the last 6 games.

On a very cool evening there wasn't a lot of hits and scoring chances during this Midwest League game.   The Loons are on a 3 game winning streak and with 2 more victories before All-Star break could put the Loons at .500 for the 1st half of the season.

Four Loons pitchers would combine for a one hitter on the evening.   This would be the fifth in team history.  Malcolm Holland would score the winning run in the 3rd inning on a Kyle Farmer single in the bottom of the 3rd inning.   The Loons are starting to show off the aggressive base running again in this contest.

The highlight of the evening was the appearance Duck Dynasty star Justin Martin would throw out the first pitch and then sign autographs for over 200 people.   The Loons would have a good crowd in the house with a little over 3,600 fans in attendance.

Great Lakes will be off for 4 days after the next two games for the All-Star break which will be played in Grand Rapids with the West Michigan Whitecaps hosting the game on Tuesday June 17th.
