Grand Valley State University a long time NCAA Division II powerhouse in College Football is moving through a .500 season to this point.   GVSU always has been in contention for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title over the past 15 years is having an average year.  The Lakers who play at Lubbers Stadium in front of sold out crowds of over 10,000 fans is finishing up the 2014 campaign.

The Lakers would face Tiffin University on Saturday and end up blowing them out 42-7 in front of a small crowd around 5,000 fans on a cold and overcast day.  GVSU's quarterback Heath Parling playing in his 6th year of NCAA Division II football had a stellar day running for two touchdowns and passing for four TD's in the romp over Tiffin (5-5) on the season.

Parling controlled the entire game with just under 40 minutes on offense to Tiffin's 20:01 seconds with the ball.   It was Senior Day at Grand Valley and they honored the Laker's senior class before the contest.

Now in what was the GLIAC's biggest game Grand Valley will face Saginaw Valley State University next Saturday (November 15th) at Wickes Stadium.   It was just a year ago that these two teams would meet in the final game of the season and then a week latter would face each other in the 1st round of the NCAA"s Division II College Football playoffs.    Both of the games were played at Lubbers Stadium and Grand Valley winning both contests.    However even with Saginaw Valley struggling this season sitting at 2-8 there should be a full house next weekend big game.   It's the State of Michigan's Division II version of the Michigan/Ohio State annual clash.
