Essexville Garber's boy basketball season came to a quick end in the 1st half of quarterfinal action in MHSAA Class B action at Bay City Central.   The Dukes ran into Big Rapids who outgunned them all night.    The game was essentially over early in the third period when the Big Rapids team when off on a 12-1 run.

Bay City Central's gym was packed to the rafters with an overflow crowd.  It brought back memories of the late 1970's when Bay City All Saints would play their home games in the Central gymnasium.  Big Rapids would take a 18-12 lead into the locker room and then came out like gang busters to start the 2nd half.

The Dukes would suffer their poorest shooting of the season in the biggest game of the year.   Trey Newsham a sure All-State player was held to a season low 7 points.    Essexville Garber would make it to its second straight quarterfinal game in Class B under 2nd year coach Chris Watz.  This team would give Garber its only two regional championships in school history.

Garber would finish the season with a 17-9 record was lead by Logan Sella with 11 points in the tough loss.   However this team can look back  in the near future on what a successful team that they truly were.    Big Rapids who now stand at 23-2 move to the Breslin Center for the Class B state finals.
