The Detroit Pistons under new veteran coach Stan Van Gundy are not heading in the right direction yet this young season.  Van Gundy who was hired to turn around the Pistons in 2014- 1015 are off to a bad start.   The Pistons dropped this contest to the lowly Orlando Magic 107 -93.

Upon entering the Palace of Auburn Hills one can see the changes that have been made to the building to update the now 25 year old building.  I can remember the contest that the Pistons held to name the new place when they were leaving the Pontiac Silverdome just down the road.  The Palace looks nice however it doesn't have the feel that it did during the the early 2000's when the Pistons were dominating.

This season's cast of players still don't excite me yet with Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Smith.  After tonight's game none of these players were the top two scorers for the Pistons on the evening.   Caron Butler would lead the Pistons with 20 points and Brandon Jennings would finish with 18 points.   The Pistons seemed like they were just going through the motions and really didn't have a true leader on the floor.

The Orlando Magic who came into the game with a 4-7 record and no name players on their roster would beat up the Pistons.  The Magic would have Ben Gordon on their roster who now plays sparingly.  The other thing that one will notice at the Palace is the lack of fans attending games.  I guess that I was spoiled with all of those sell outs from a few years ago.  The upper level is almost empty.

Stan Van Gundy would constantly be shaking his head when the Pistons would turn the ball over and over.  It is a good thing that the team has an owner with deep pockets to give Van Gundy a five year deal to turn this thing around.  It seems like a lot of the fans are coming into the Palace to see the other stars from other teams play.  It looks like it is going to be a long winter in Motown.
