The Detroit Lions came out with a passion against the New England Patriots at Ford Field and walked away with 40-9 victory.   The Lions capitalized on several Patriot turnovers in the 1st half to build 16-3 halftime lead.   The announced attendance was over 60,000 fans however their were fewer in their seats.

The NFL has implemented something new for the 2013 season at all NFL Stadiums and it is not going over well with the fans right off the bat.  It is an enhanced security policy that allows you to bring virtually nothing into the stadium with you.   Woman's handbags have to be extremely small to meet the guidelines.    If  you bring it to the gates and it is not small enough you have to take it back to the vehicle that you came in.

Even though the score sounds like a rout the Lions didn't overly impress this writer in Thursday's contest.   Matt Stafford didn't look sharp and they are still without star receiver Calvin Johnson.   Reggie Bush showed flashes of brilliance and the defense stepped up to the plate and held New England to under ten points.

I don't expect the Lions to be quite yet in the Super Bowl yet.  I do expect that they should finish with a winning record just based on the talent that they have on the roster.   Their payroll is almost second to none.  So they need to perform right now.   The Detroit fans have been waiting a long time for a Championship banner to be hung.
