Delta College provided a rare feat on Saturday afternoon by defeated the always good Mott Community College basketball teams in Flint.  Mott mens basketball teams have been nationally ranked for the past 15 years and have always had Delta College's number in the mens game.  The Mott women haven't been too far behind in picking up the national awards either

Kelly Miller's girls kept fighting back and back in the second half of the game to tie the score at 70-70 to end regulation.   Their defense was unbelievable in the overtime period allowing only 3 points to win the game 84-73.  Playing with only 9 dressed players the Lady Pioneers showed some grit in battling in front of the large crowd at Mott C.C.  The Lady Pioneers now move to 12-7 overall and 6-1 in league play.

New head coach for the Pioneers Kyle Blackbourn had his players competing the entire game against the Mott Bears.   Mott Community College with legendary head coach Steve Schmidt going all out the entire game.   He paces the sidelines for almost the entire 40 minutes of the game.  Playing in Steve Schmidt gym with all of the National banners on the wall the Pioneers held their own.

Delta men played to a 29-29 tie at halftime.   The Mott players were yelling at each other on the way to the locker room to step up their game against the Delta team.   The game went back and forth in the second half with Delta hanging unto a 59-55 victory.   Leading the way for the Pioneers  (11-9 overall and 4-3 league) was Julian Henderson with 18 points and Markell Bradshaw with 17 points.   Delta College now faces a tough home contest on Monday night against league leading Schoolcraft College.
