In the opener of the Mid-American Conference schedule for Central Michigan (7-6) they actually played good basketball in the first half.  They trailed the Eagles from Eastern Michigan University (8-5) 45-41 at halftime.  CMU still on winter break had a good crowd for the much anticipated season with 2207 fans at McGuirk Arena.  The Chippewas would fall to the EMU Eagles in a highly scored game 99-80.  The game was aired on ESPN3.

The Chippewas now playing with All Conference guard Chris Fowler they got into a 3 point shooting contest for much of the game. The Chippewas would have a balanced scoring attack with 5 players in double figures.  Josh Kozinski 18 points (6 3-pointers), Braylon Rayson 17, Rayshawn Simmons 13, Chris Fowler 13 and 6'11'' center Luke Meyer had 11 points.  Head Coach Keno Davis will now take his team on the road to Bowling Green this Saturday.

Central Michigan is the defending 2015 regular season champ in the Mid American Conference and have been picked by many to repeat the title in 2016.  Chippewa basketball is returning to its glory days of the early 2000's when Chris Kaman and David Webber ran the court at Rose Arena.  It should be an exciting season at McGuirk Arena in 2016.
