Big Walk Off win for the Great Lakes Loons

Loons win over Fort Wayne 5-4 in bottom of the 9th

Great Lakes Loons Webster Rivas hits a walk off home run to lead off the bottom of the 9th inning for the Loons.   Great Lakes lead 4-1 going into the top of the 9th inning and brought in All-Star closer Mark Pope to finish the game.   He would end up giving up 3 runs for a blown save.   Victor Araujo would get the final out of the 9th inning and credit for the win.

Loons starter Brandon Martinez would pitch a strong game going 6 innings and giving up just five hits while allowing 1 run.  This evens the Loons record in the 2nd half of the Midwest League season at 9-9.  The Fort Wayne Tincaps are now in the middle of a 10 game losing streak.

Jesmuel Valentin, Josmar Cordero and Alex Santana all would end the night with two hits for the Loons in front of 2,671 fans at the Dow Diamond.   On a sunny cool evening the Loons played a solid game for the first 8 innings only to lose the lead in the ninth inning.   Great Lakes will play 2 more game against the Tincaps to finish the series.
